**NEWS RELEASE**
Kendall County Law Enforcement Moving to Encrypted Radio Channels
Kendall County, IL (November 4 2025, 4:00 PM)
Beginning November 3, 2025, all law enforcement agencies utilizing the KenCom Public Safety Dispatch Center will transition to encrypted digital radio frequencies.
This transition is the result of an ongoing collaborative effort between KenCom and its member public safety agencies. The deployment of this enhanced communications platform will provide improved radio coverage, increased operational capabilities, and strengthened security for critical communications between dispatchers and responding personnel.
The primary objective of this project is to enhance the safety and security of first responders and the public. The use of encrypted radio channels will also help minimize non-emergency calls to KenCom regarding active incidents, which can impede emergency operations during a critical incident, and reduce the dissemination of inaccurate or incomplete information through unofficial channels.
The implementation of encrypted communications represents a major step forward in ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of public safety operations across Kendall County.
