Statute/Authority: 55 ILCS 5 - Sheriff's Merit System and Merit Commission Rules, Regulations, and Procedures

Description: The Merit Commission is tasked with ensuring a merit system within the Sheriff’s office for all positions below the Sheriff beginning with the Deputy Sheriff.

Composition: Five (5) members 

Term: Six (6) years

Additional Information:

1. No more than three (3) members can consist of the same political party.
