Local Government Efficiency Act, P.A. 102-1088 went into effect on June 10, 2022. It requires governmental units, except municipalities and counties, to form a committee to study local efficiencies and provide a report to their county board. The duties of the committee include the study of the governmental unit's governing statutes, ordinances, rules, procedures, powers, jurisdiction, shared services, intergovernmental agreements, and interrelationships with other governmental units and the State. The report, provided to the county board, should include recommendations regarding efficiencies and increased accountability.
