The Investigative Services Section is tasked with conducting preliminary investigations into all deaths occurring within Kendall County to determine the cause and manner of death. Investigators in this section may respond directly to the scene or manage cases remotely through telephone conferences with the reporting law enforcement agency or healthcare providers. Additionally, all investigators assigned to this section are sworn as Deputy Coroners, and classified as Peace Officers under Illinois Statute (55 ILCS 5/3-3007 & 725 ILCS 5/107-16 Et. al)

Responsibilities of the Investigative Services Section may also be assumed by the Coroner, Chief Deputy Coroner, or Forensic Services Manager as part of their supplementary duties related to death investigations.

Jessica Gotte, RPA

Jessica is currently appointed as a Deputy Coroner/Investigator with Kendall County. She studied at the College of DuPage and received her license as a Radiologic Technologist. She went on to further her studies at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, and in 2010 received her board certification as a Radiology Practitioner Assistant. She also practices as a Radiology PA at several local outpatient facilities as well as a local hospital.

William "Will" Sutton
Deputy Coroner

Will is currently appointed as a Deputy Coroner/Investigator with Kendall County. He is a decorated US Marine Corps veteran who served in Operation Enduring Freedom and is a purple heart recipient. He also works full-time as a County Veteran Service Officer at a local Veteran's Assistance Commission.

Terry is currently appointed as a Deputy Coroner/Investigator with Kendall County. He has also spent the last 20 years working full-time in local Law Enforcement.

Larry Simmons

Larry is currently appointed as a Deputy Coroner/Investigator with Kendall County. He retired from his previous career after over 35 years working as both a first responder and as a supervisor in the fire service, with specializations in fire investigation and technical rescue.
