Electronic Home Monitoring (EHM), often utilizing GPS technology, serves as a pretrial alternative to incarceration by allowing individuals to remain in the community while ensuring compliance and court accountability. Participants are required to wear a GPS tracking device at all times, which transmits an encoded signal, enabling the Sheriff’s Office to continuously track their location, monitor adherence to house confinement, and receive alerts for any unauthorized movement. In cases such as domestic violence, EHM also functions as a critical safety tool by enforcing exclusion zones and helping protect victims from prohibited contact.
